Pizza places took the top two spots in latest reader poll. Of course, both of the top picks in the Favorite Restaurant poll offer more than pizza – but the pizza is pretty darn good too. Both led the way in the Favorite Pizza Place poll earlier this year.

The results of the July reader poll, sponsored by the Rahway Arts and Business Partnership (RABP),  asked readers:

What’s your favorite restaurant in Rahway?

  1. Nancy’s Towne House — 35% (20/57 votes)
  2. Il Forno a Legna — 14% (8/57)
  3. The Irving Inn Social — 12% (7/57)
  4. Firehouse Eatery & Pub — 9% (5/57)
  5. Sabor Peruano — 7% (4/57)
  6. [TIE] The Waiting Room — 5% (3/57)
  7. Flynn’s Pub House — 5% (3/57)
  8. [TIE] Other — 4% (2/57)
  9. Luciano’s — 4% (2/57)
  10. CubaNu — 4% (2/57)
  11. La Malinche — 2% (1/57)

There were 2 votes (4%) for Other but 17 other options didn’t receive a vote.  Anyone want to share who your votes for Other were?

The last time we had a Favorite Restaurant poll was way back in 2013 — almost eight years ago! That one was a bit more popular, with 157 votes. The Waiting Room came out on top that time, just edging Luciano’s, with Nancy’s Towne House placing third. That was a very different time too — several options in this poll were not in operation back in 2013 (Il Forno, for one), and a few from that poll are no longer around now (Patria is now Monchy’s, Little Portugal is now Hugo’s, for instance).

This poll focused on sit-down restaurants with table service but maybe we’ll have a future poll focus on takeout eateries. There’s also the idea for Favorite Bar and maybe breakout restaurants by style, like Favorite Latin or Favorite Chinese. Favorite BYO? What do you think?
