The winner of last year’s Favorite Barber Shop poll, which took place a little later in year (November), is back to defend its crown. Shulton Barber Shop in the St. Georges Shopping Center, a.k.a., the Dollar Tree Shopping Center on St. Georges Avenue nabbed almost two-thirds of the overall votes. That was enough to outdistance Rahway’s Finest Barber Shop on Irving Street — around the corner from its previous location on East Cherry Street, where The Gramercy now stands — and Barber Gods at East Milton Avenue and Fulton Street.

Last year’s poll saw more than 100 votes cast in all. There is a newcomer in this year’s poll. That’s Upscale Clientele on Irving Street in the space previously occupied by Fo Nomenal Styles and The Blowout Lounge.

Otherwise, it’s a rematch among many of last year’s participants, from all over town, including Blades Barber Shop on Irving Street, Bryan’s Barber Shop on West Grand Avenue, City Cuts Barber Shop in Lincoln Plaza, The Main Barber Lounge on Main Street, Rahway Barber Shop on West Grand Avenue, and T-Liners Barber Shop on East Grand Avenue.

Remember, you can only vote for one choice and the poll limits users to one vote per IP address. The poll will remain open for the month of September, with results to be posted by the end of the month.
