After a slow and steady flow of votes the start the month, it was a deluge of ballots cast in the back half of the month, with a strong finish and clear winner atop the monthly reader poll for June.

In the end, it was quite a number of votes that came in — falling just 1 short of reaching 600! — focused primarily among the top two finishers. Here are the results of the June reader poll, sponsored by RahwayIsHappening.com (the Rahway Special Improvement District):

What’s your favorite outdoor dining spot in Rahway?

  1. Cubanu — 38% (228/599 votes)
  2. La Chula — 31% (184/599)
  3. Il Forno A Legna — 16% (95/599)
  4. The Irving Social — 5% (29/599)
  5. The “World Famous” Waiting Room — 2.17% (13/599)
  6. The Coffee Box — 2.00% (12/599)
  7. Flynn’s Pub House — 1.66% (10/599)
  8. Stewart’s Drive-In — 1.33% (8/599)
  9. Hugo’s — 1.16% (7/599)
  10. Sabor Peruano — 1.00% (6/599)
  11. Copacabana — 0.50% (3/599)
  12. Gigi’s Latin Bistro — 0.33% (2/599)
  13. Other — 0.33% (2/599)

Cubanu and LaChula accounted for more than two-thirds of the overall votes. Il Forno a Legna had a strong third-place finish, ahead of the pack, and after that, there were several different places just edging either other out by razor-thin, single-vote margins.

There were also 2 votes cast for “Other” if anyone wants to share in the comments below just who they went off the beaten path for — or if you want to explain why you voted among the ones on the list too, go for it!

Now it’s time to go out and enjoy the weather before it gets too sticky and humid (and maybe after the wildfire haze dies down a bit). Thanks to all who voted, look for a new — and completely unscientific — poll to drop next week.
