One ordinance (O-2-23) would institute residential permit parking along the west side of Elizabeth Avenue from the corner of Jackson Avenue and 265 feet south. The second ordinance (O-3-23) would create time limited parking along the west side of Elizabeth Avenue from the “apex of West Grand Avenue” north 160 feet and extending 183 feet north.” It’s unclear from the ordinance or city code (§401-75 Schedule XVI), what exactly the time limits would be.

Residential parking permits were first instituted in October 2021  (O-39-21) on Price Street, Jackson Avenue and parts of Linden Avenue in response to an influx of parking from the first phase of Meridia Brownstones at West Grand and Elizabeth avenues. Almost a year later, City Council added restrictions to accommodate parking for individual homes and some businesses directly opposite of the Brownstones toward West Scott Avenue,

The 487-unit rental apartment complex is planned to be built in several phases across multiple buildings along Elizabeth Avenue, stretching to West Scott Avenue adjacent to the Amtrak railroad tracks. Representatives of Linden-based Capodagli Property Company are expected to appear before the Redevelopment Agency early this year with major amendments to the redevelopment plan for Meridia Brownstones.
