How I’d answer the downtown input survey

I  haven’t find the time very often to provide a blog post or some content that’s exclusive to RahwayRising patrons and supporters. After all, you are my best supporters, so I thought I should try harder.

With Friday’s deadline on the downtown input survey, here’s how I would answer the dozen-or-so questions, with some context and stream-of-consciousness remarks to boot.

UPDATED, Sept. 1: The deadline for the city’s Downtown Strategic Plan Public Input Survey has been extended two weeks, through Friday, Sept. 10.

I will forgo some of the early questions about how often and when you visit downtown.

How would you describe downtown Rahway today in *three words or less*?

  1. I haven’t been in town as much as I like these last 20 months, being a boomer and a prime target of whatever COVID variant that is out there, but I did take part in the appetizer fundraiser, and will attend more in-town fundraisers and go back to eating indoors in my many favoriet Rahway bars and restaurants as soon as this 71-year-old feels comfy sitting indoors, next to people. If I go now, it is around 3 pm to avoid crowds. I miss my fellow Rawackies and want to be among them again. Also, on my list of yearnings is the Library, now that it is open. I need to get this short body out on the pavement to walk off my COVID 12 lbs and the Library is a fav destination.
