Responses to the audience survey will help “us understand interest in visual art, music, dance, theater, and film,” It’s a way for the community to guide future arts and cultural programs we offer,” Rachael Faillace, administrator of Cultural and Heritage Affairs, said in a press release announcing the survey’s launch.

The survey consists of 18 questions. The first several questions ask about demographic information,  such as age, education and ethnicity, before inquiring about the types of arts and cultural experiences you normally attend. Several questions ask about the type of live theatre events, dance performance, visual arts events, and film screenings that you normally attend.

Feedback from the survey will “enable the city to plan future events with a better understanding of what audiences exist within Rahway, what diverse interests exist in these audiences, and what barriers currently stand in the way of full participation.”

The survey will be open until May 31.

The Rahway Creative Community Survey in November targeted an “audience of individuals who identify as artists and sought to identify what current barriers exist for these artists and what resources they would benefit from,” Rachel Smith, chief communicators officer for the city, said. The audience survey is more of a general local audience and seeks to understand what art audiences/the public are interested in seeing or experiencing in the community.”
