City Council approves three appointments

City Council confirmed two appointments to the Zoning Board of Adjustment and one reappointment to the Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) Board.

The governing body unanimously adopted two separate resolutions during its combined pre-conference and regular meeting on Aug. 13, confirming the appointments by interim Mayor Ray Giacobbe, Jr.

The two appointments to the seven-member Zoning Board of Adjustment (AR-162-18) were both for alternate seats. Matthew Pukavich of Hamilton Street was appointed Alternate No. 1, a term expiring 2020. William Tomkiewicz of Madison Hill Road was appointed Alternate No. 4, to an unexpired term ending at the end of this year (2018).

City Council also reappointed Edward Rengifo of West Grand Avenue to the ABC Board (AR-163-18), to a two-year term that expires in 2020.

The ABC Board is made up of three members, one Republican and two Democrats (since they hold the majority — all nine seats on City Council — and the mayor’s post), and is one of the few municipal boards that specifies seats with party affiliations.
