Redevelopment Agency to explore new website

The Redevelopment Agency is looking into establishing a new stand-alone website or possibly partnering with the Parking Authority on a joint website.

Executive Director Leonard Bier briefed commissioners during their monthly Redevelopment Agency meeting on March 1 about the possibility of partnering with the Parking Authority on some type of website for the agency, which also could strike out on its own website. Bier told commissioners he was not aware that the agency’s website had expired.

The stand-alone Redevelopment Agency website (www.RahwayRedevelopmentAgency.com) was active for a number of years before becoming dormant sometime in within the last few months, possibly as recently as October, judging by this archived screenshot.

The City of Rahway website houses most of the Redevelopment Agency archives, such as meeting minutes and agendas, dating back to 2011.

Bier said it’s possible the two agencies could collaborate jointly on a new website. The Redevelopment Agency might not need as robust as website since its minutes and agendas are archeived on the city’s website, Bier said. Instead, he said the agency’s website could be geared more toward public information and publicity.

Bier expects to update commissioners on the project during their meeting next month, scheduled for April 5.

The initiative was part of the Redevelopment Agency’s efforts to commemorate its 15th anniversary.

About $18,000 of that contract went toward the Redevelopment Agency’s website. The largest portion of the contract, about $40,000, was earmarked for the production of a promotional video for the agency, and another $15,000 went toward the design of a booth to exhibit at the annual League of Municipalities convention.
