The governing body unanimously approved a resolution (AR-202-22) during its combined pre-conference and regular meeting on Tuesday night appointing City Councilman At-Large Jeremy Mojica of West Lake Avenue Ebony Parham of East Milton Avenue to the Redevelopment Agency.

First Ward Councilman Rodney Farrar resigned, effective Aug. 31, and served as the City Council’s representative on the Redevelopment Agency. Last month, Al Parker was appointed by the governing body to Farrar’s seat. With more than two years remaining on Farrar’s original term, Parker’s appointment will run through next month but a special election for the remaining two years on the original term will take place during the Nov. 8 election.

Mojica will serve the remaining two years on Farrar’s term on the Redevelopment Agency, which runs through 2024. Mojica’s City Council term expires at the end of this year and is running for another four-year term in November along with At-Large Council representatives Joanna Miles and Jeff Brooks, and Mayor Ray Giacobbe, Jr.

Parham was appointed to serve through 2023, the remaining 15 months on the original term of Dorian Timmons, who stepped down earlier this year. Parham is a broker-associate with Newmark Associates and business development manager for the Commercial Real Estate Supplier Diversity Alliance (CRESDA).

The Redevelopment Agency was established in 2001 to oversee redevelopment efforts in the city. Commissioners are unpaid and appointed to four-year terms by the mayor and confirmed by City Council. The agency, which meets on the first Wednesday of each month, is led by a paid, part-time executive director.
