The Planning Board Tuesday night authorized its attorney to answer an appeal filed by an objector to the Dornoch II Rahway application, a 208-unit project along Main Street between Monroe and Poplar streets.

Construction on Meridia Lafayette Village is expected to begin this week. The 115-unit project is planned at the corner of Main and Monroe streets, where The Savoy, a 36-unit condominium project had been proposed before the real estate market imploded.

764fc-dockstreetWhen Tim Nash leaves Luciano’s and looks across the street, he’s reminded how terrible the vacant lot looks. There’s a fence but not much activity at the corner of Main and Monroe streets of late. Most of the action has been going on out of sight, at Zoning Board meetings and through the state permitting process, but construction on the 115-unit Meridia Lafayette Village is expected to start later this year.
