Reva expected to be completed by year end

Reva Rahway, a 219-unit project at the site of the former Center Circle sports complex on Main Street, is anticipated to be completed by the end of December.

Roadway work has been completed and landscaping is under construction at Reva. Engineer Jacqueline Dirmann of Masur Consulting provided updates on several ongoing developments during a report to the Redevelopment Agency at its monthly meeting on Nov. 13.

Construction began on the five-story complex in July 2018 several months after demolition of the old Center Circle sports complex. The ground floor will include 196 parking spaces, topped by four floors of apartments. Another 78 surface parking spaces will be along an access drive. The rental apartments will be a mix of 33 studios (15 percent), 112 one-bedroom units (51 percent) and 74 two-bedroom units (34 percent).

The project has a 30-year Payment In Lieu Of Taxes (PILOT) that was approved by City Council in January 2018. The Planning Board approved the development in January 2017.

 

Developers of the project, Lavallette-based AST Development and Sterling Properties, established a sole purpose LLC, 1255 Main Street Urban Renewal, LLC, and acquired the 3.6-acre property for $5.825 million in January 2017.

Building improvements continue on the south building of Dornoch II Urban Renewal, LLC, at Main and Monroe streets. The contractor is completing curb sidewalk and roadway work, according to Dirmann. The south building, consisting of 112 units in a five-story complex along Main Street, is the first phase of the development. The second phase, consisting of a second, 96-unit building at the corner of Poplar Street, will begin once construction is completed on the first building.

Foundation and building construction also is ongoing at The Brownstones along West Grand Avenue, according to Dirmann. Underground utility work on Grand Avenue under construction this month. The first phase of the 487-unit, five-building complex began construction last summer and is expected to include about 172 units.
