It’s National Pizza Month, started in 1984 to support a growing pizza business and the pizza industry, so that’s why the monthly reader poll for October — sponsored by RahwayIsHappening.com (Rahway Special Improvement District) — asks:

What’s your favorite pizza in Rahway?

  1. Il Forno a Legna — 49% (112/229)
  2. Nancy’s Towne House — 29% (66/229)
  3. Plum Tomato — 9% (20/229)
  4. Michelino’s — 8% (19/229 votes)
  5. Tony’s Pizza Cafe — 3% (8/229)
  6. Jersey Boys Kitchen — 1% (2/229)
  7. [TIE] Brooklyn Pizza — 0.44% (1/229)
  8. Nunzio’s II — 0.44% (1/229)

This year’s poll again returned to a race between two stalwarts gobbling up 178 of the overall 229 votes — almost 80 percent — with Il Forno a Legna outdistancing  Nancy’s Towne House, which has been the case for a few years now.

Il Forno a Legna

.Il Forno a Legna knocked off last year’s champion, Michelino’s, nearly taking a plurality of votes with 112 of the 229 votes overall. For what it’s worth, the 49 percent corralled by Il Forno a Legna is the highest proportion of votes by a winner since 2016 when Nancy’s grabbed 47 percent.

.In last year’s poll, it was Michelino’s that took first place, breaking a string of consecutive wins by either Nancy’s Towne House or Il Forno a Legna dating back to 2014.

Thanks to all who voted and also to those who shared their insights in the comments both on the site and on social media. Be on the lookout for a new reader poll for November in the coming days.
