City Council approves more appointments to boards, commissions

City Council approved another series of appointments and reappointments to various boards, including a dozen to the Zoning and Planning Boards and the Special Improvement (SID) Rahway Arts and Business Advisory Board.

The governing body approved a resolution (AR-16-24) during its Jan. 8 combined meeting, confirming the mayor’s appointments to at least nine different boards and commission. The appointments come a week after another group of appointments were approved during the annual reorganization meeting on Jan. 2.

Planning Board

Four members were reappointed to the Planning Board:

  • Class II member, Kyle Gustofson, a one-year term expiring at the end of 2024
  • Class IV member, Seat 6, William Cladek, 4 years, 2027
  • Alternate 1, Christopher Brown, remaining term, 2024
  • Alternate 2, Karina Delgado, 2 years, 2025

SID Rahway Arts and Business Advisory Board

Three members were reappointed to the Special Improvement District (SID) Rahway Arts and Business Advisory Board:

  • Herve Gaspard, 2 years, 2025
  • Peter Kowal, 3 years, 2026
  • Heidi Rosal, Chamber of Commerce, 2024

All three are original members of the SID Rahway Arts and Business Advisory Board, created in July 2021 when City Council established the two five-member ad hoc committees during the process to dissolve the Rahway Arts and Business Partnership.

Zoning Board of Adjustment

Five members were reappointed to the Zoning Board of Adjustment:

  • Joann Gemenden, 4 years, 2027
  • Timothy Antisz, 2026
  • Courtney Anderson, alternate 2, 2 years, 2025
  • Roy L. Smith, alternate 3, 2 years, 2025
  • Vanessa Carillo, alternate 4, 2024

The resolution also included appointments to at least seven other commissions or boards, including the Cannabis Advisory Committee, Enviromental Commission, First Aid Emergency Squad Central Jersey Joint Insurnace Fund (JIF), Social Justice Commission, Union County Solid Waste Advisory Council, and Union County Transportation Advisory Board.
