A revised concept plan for the Bridgeview project envisions about 300 units across the river from downtown while bifurcating the block to create a new public street, similar to what was done with two other downtown developments.

6: It’s getting cold outside
- Three pavilions are being built where the main outdoor spaces were established in the summer: East Cherry Street, Main Street, and Lewis Street. The city designated seven areas downtown for outdoor dining and social distancing, as part of the city’s COVID-19 Small Business Recovery Strategy.
- Thirty-one votes – that was the difference in the Board of Education election, results of which were certified by the Union County Clerk.
LOOKING AHEAD: City Council will meet for a special meeting Monday at 12:30 p.m. The regular meeting will be on the following Monday, Dec. 7 at 7 p.m.

Heated pavilions going up downtown
Three heated outdoor pavilions will be constructed downtown, aimed to help bars and restaurants to continue operations amid COVID-19 safety restrictions on indoor dining set by the state.
Local election results certified
The Union County Clerk’s Office officially certified election results on Friday afternoon and while there was no change in the six City Council races, the race for three seats to the Board of Education took a different turn since election night.
5: Crime declines again in 2019
There was only one post this week on the blog but it was a good one: a look at 2019 crime data. Crime was down again in Rahway, about 32 percent, continuing a long-term trend in the city and beyond.

2019 crime data
Reported offenses of crime in Rahway continued to plummet in 2019, down almost a third from 2018, part of a continuing broader countywide trend.
