Triangle Inn comes down

If you’ve been a reader of the blog for any extended time, you know how much we like taking photos of buildings getting knocked down.

The old Triangle Inn finally came down last week, along with several homes along Monroe Street. The properties will make way for Renaissance at Rahway, a five-story, 88-unit rental complex with ground floor parking. The development will take up the the portion of Montgomery Street between East Grand Avenue and Monroe.

  1. I hate to see any building come down. Not that I don't see the practicality of it, it just makes me sad to see the loss of the history. That being said, I hope the development, well, develops, more than the rusted metal skeleton currently gracing the Downtown near Lucianos.

  2. The Triangle Inn was a notorious eyesore for the neighborhood. It was a known spot for drug dealing and the neighbors constantly called to complain about noise, loitering and property damage coming from the patrons. When responding to an altercation one night, a cop was actually hit over the head with a beer bottle like you see in the movies.

  3. speaking of demo..I see they finally started working on the apts above the Chinese restaurant on Main st. Could Kozas be next, they put up a fence around the property. Mark it looks Sept will keep you and your camera busy..
