Top 15 posts of 2015

It’s that time again to take a look back at the year that was, and so here it is, a breakdown of the most viewed posts of 2015 by you, our faithful readers.

Rahway Rising, now in its eighth year (I can’t believe it myself that I’ve kept up this part-time hobby for eight years), had almost 102,000 page views during 2015, with more than 45,000 directly to the home page.

As for individual posts, these were the most popular during the past year:

  1. Microbrewery aims to open  — 1,933 page views. An update on the original opening timeline of late 2015: Wet Ticket Brewing Founder Tim Pewitt told me last week that he hopes to open by late spring/early summer after getting state and federal approvals.
  2. Online petition rails against park plans — 1,073 page views
  3. Wheatena demolition coming soon — 1,023 page views. The site at Elizabeth and West Grand avenues has been being prepared for the largest redevelopment project yet.

    More than 300 properties on foreclosure registry — 992 page views.

  5. 2014 crime rate plunges — 792 page views.
  6. Demolition of Wheatena site under way — 739 page views.
  7. Eatery targeted for East Cherry Street space — 770 page views.
  8. 208 units approved for Main and Monroe — 737 page views. This is likely the next downtown project to commence construction, likely in 2016.
  9. Developer acquires former Dornoch lots — 719 page views. More on these properties below.
  10. Fight over SID expansion will go to court — 717 page views.
  11. Concept plan proposes 86 units at Poplar Court — 699 page views. This will be one to watch in the coming years but not for awhile. DMR Construction plans to focus first on its East Cherry Street project…
  12. Developer plans to raze East Cherry buildings — 692 page views. With approvals in September, DMR first will move forward with this project before it tackles the Poplar plan.
  13. 30 properties targeted for acquisition — 690 page views.
  14. River Place sold again, this time for $36 million — 689 page views. One of the early projects in downtown redevelopment, River Place was built in 2004, and has now changed hands twice.
  15. Proposal would restore mayors salary to $72k — 661 page views.
