Station stairs slated for replacement this month

NJ Transit plans to replace the staircase on the east side of the eastbound platform this month. The stairs, at the corner of Irving and East Cherry streets, are expected to reopen Dec. 4, according to this advisory issued last month.

Here’s a nj.com story on the foreclosures at Riverwalk that we wrote about last month. It looks as though the developer, Parsippany-based Diversified Communities, defaulted on an $11.8-million loan from Bank of America.

  1. I will be very glad once they reopen the Eastside/Eastbound platform. Sometimes, I need those extra 60 seconds to make my train.Tried Kataluma Chai and the menu looked very nice and the owners/staff were very friendly. Not sure how quickly they can make a beverage in the a.m. rush but I will give it a try one day and if its a 60 second process, I could become a regular. The problem I had when I first tried Mr. Gs Coffee was that it took over 5 minutes to get a cup of coffee. You just can't cater to a morning commuter crowd if its going to take 5 minutes for a cup of joe.Glad people are moving into Park Square. Hope it brings more 'life' to downtown Rahway during the after hours but I am still not seeing it. Hope springs eternal.Kudos to Rahway Health Dept. for being one of the first towns in Union County to get an H1N1 flu shot clinic going.R.I.P Just a Little Bit Healthier and The Original Nile. We hardly knew ya.

  2. I agree about Mr.G's cafe in Skyview. Is a very nice place and I am glad to have them there but they are sooooo slow. If you're catering to morning commuters who need to take trains, you'd think you'd work a little faster.
