Renaissance project reaches new heights

Renaissance at Rahway looks like it has reached its high point, literally.

Construction on the five-story, 88-unit rental development continues, taking shape along Monroe Street and East Grand Avenue. There will be ground floor parking spaces, along with 44 one-bedroom units and 44 two-bedroom units.

The image above was taken this past weekend. Here’s what the site looked like last month and in November.

Demolition of the several homes on the block, in addition the former Triangle Inn, took place last summer. A sketch of the proposal is below.

  1. Huge?? Look at the sketch, I can fit the whole building under my thumb. What is this an apartment for ants! This building needs to be at least….3 times bigger than this. Ha, zoolander, great movie. I couldn't resist.

  2. Jenny Lynn, The sketch does look a little imposing, perhaps because none of the surrounding buildings to provide some perspective? Or, maybe it is just big. The rehabilitation center next door has a three-story wing and parking lot closest to this project and I believe it's a five-story main building that fronts Lawrence Street at East Grand. There's also the building at the end of the block at East Grand Avenue and Monroe Street that's about 2 1/2 to 3 stories.
