  1. Thanks Sivyaleah, I didn't realize Big Belly did breafast. I added them to the poll, as well as Bianca's, which occurred to me after I posted.

  2. I love Mr. Apple Pie for breakfast, cheese-grits, eggs over easy, yummy and the price just can't be beat! You get a great breakfast for a very reasonable price. Also, love Ted & Fran's Rahway Grill, lovely people, great service. Ted takes special care to cook my food just as I like it and Fran makes a mean vanilla shake!

  3. We maxed out on the Galaxy when we were redoing our kitchen a few years ago. We barely dine out now at all, but when it's breakfast, it's Bianca's for an egg sandwich, or we're cooking at home.

  4. I was seriously disappointed with Mr. Apple Pie recently when I went for the first time 2 weekends ago. Dingy atmosphere, the waitresses had attitudes, and the food was not exactly good quality. My cheese grits were awful; a bowl served with slices of American cheese slapped on top of it. The least they could have done was mix it up in the kitchen for you. The whole experience came off as sad and tired. Will not be back.

  5. You guys definitely have to try Big Al's Lunchonette. I just tried it for the first time last week and can definitely tell you that I'll be back. The people there are so nice! I even got a free soda!

  6. Sivyaleah, you are correct, I happened to go to MAP on a Sunday and I had the same service and the same issue with the cheese grits (they usually cook the cheese into the grits, not slap a peice of cheese on top and I specifically said 'cook the cheese into them'. I then went on Saturday and got my grits how I like them. I think on Sundays the main staff/cook is off. Where is Big Al's Lunchonette?

  7. Interesting – it was a Sunday that I was at MAP. I'm willing to give them another try if that's the day to avoid. Thanks for giving me the head's up on that 🙂

  8. OnA,Big Al's is at the corner of Elizabeth and West Lincoln avenues – click the link and it'll open another window with the address and a map. Until recently, it was called Carmine's Luncheonette.

  9. I find a terrible shortage of restaurants in Rahway in general and quality restaurants are rare. I know you are talking about breakfast here Mark, and it's funny because I had the biggest craving for waffles last week and searched on the internet for over an hour. No waffles anywhere! As far as dinner – can someone open a good Thai restaurant PLEASE!

  10. I was recently at Big Al's and I have to say that this is one of the BEST luncheonettes I have ever been to. I have been to Big Al's and ordered Big Al's Belly Buster. It was AMAZING.

  11. For waffles and pancakes, it's Sivyaleah's, served fresh from the iron to the plate at home. It's the only place we can get real maple syrup that I know of (unless it's YOUR home as well lol).
