New library tenants may need more parking

The new owners of the office space above the library told city officials they may need more parking, judging by the interest from potential tenants.

City officials met with Fieldstone Development to discuss their interest in negotiating with DeBartolo Development as to the use of 150 parking spaces on the one-acre lot to the south of the building, Redevelopment Director and City Administrator Peter Pelissier reported at last month’s Redevelopment Agency meeting.

DeBartolo of Tampa, Fla. has been designated as redeveloper for the Main Street project that was once envisioned as Town Center. Newark-based Fieldstone purchased the two floors of office space above the library from SDI Technologies in December.

According to this report, Realtors expect strong demand for the office space, starting at $25 a square foot. The DeBartolo project “may have as many as 300 units if it ever comes to fruition,” Pelissier said.

  1. Wow, finally. I’ve been really irritated for a long time that they built such a massive library and the top offices were empty–though at one point I heard there was supposed to have been a Planned Parenthood up there. Apparently it was hearsay. :[
