The five-story project along Campbell Street and West Cherry Street is expected to be completed later this year. Of the 116 units, 52 will be one-bedrooms and 62 will be two-bedrooms, situated above one level of parking. There will be 120 parking spaces, in addition to 18 on-street spaces.

Originally the home of A&M Supply, Metro Rahway started out as Station Place, an 80-unit for-sale condominium project. The economic downturn and housing collapse forced a shift to rental apartments in 2008.

Metro Rahway is a joint effort between AST Development, which is working on a 248-unit proposal at the site of The Center Circle on Main Street, and Heartstone Development, which built River Place on Lewis Street in the early 2000s. The City Council awarded the project a 15-year Payment In Lieu Of Taxes (PILOT).
