Industrial property wins tax appeal again

An Elston Street industrial property won another round of tax appeals, this time for the tax years 2014 and 2015, resulting in about a 22-percent refund on its property taxes.

City Council on Monday night approved a resolution (AR-105-16) authorizing the tax collector to credit overpayment of taxes in the amount of $7.337.31 due to a judgment of the state Tax Court:

  • 2014 — $3,635.54
  • 2015 — $3,701.76

The refunds are about a 22-percent reduction off their current property tax bill of about $16,751. The property at 880 Elston St. is assessed for $252,800, according to property records.

Last December, the governing body approved a similar resolution covering tax years 2009 and 2010 and totaling $5,455, and also reducing the tax bill by about 20 percent.

West Conshohocken, Pa.-based Seagis Property Group, an industrial real estate firm, owns the property along with several others along Elston and Martin streets.
