The skeleton of a new hotel that broke ground earlier this year is beginning to take shape along Routes 1&9 near Lennington Street.

The Home2 Suites by Hilton, adjacent to the new Best Western on Paterson Street, is planned as a four-story, 93-unit extended stay hotel. The project has gone through several names, gaining approval by the Planning Board in March 2009 as a Candlewood Suites, an extended stay brand of Holiday Inn, and before that was proposed as a Sleep Inn.

The property at 667 E. Milton Ave., formerly identified as Block 338, Lot 3, was split into 3.01 and 3.02, which combined were assessed at $214,600 last year, generating a property tax bill of almost $12,400.
