I was told by the giver of the gift that they purchased the certificate right before Christmas and the owner never told them that the restaurant was closing! Selling a gift certificate that can only be redeemed that weekend amounts to thievery. One of my favorite restaurants ever. I did a review of DD for Chowhound, under a different name, when they first opened. The review got back to Mr. Drake (it was a very good one) and they had it linked to their website for ages. Have had many remarkable lunches and dinners there and was looking forward to taking my boyfriend there for his birthday this February. Alas, not to be. I hope Mr. Drake can get it together and reopen again elsewhere, but suspect this will be the end for this charming and much loved little place.
