Bachmann's reconstruction moving along

Could this be the fastest-moving project in Rahway?

The old Bachmann's Tavern was knocked down last fall and construction on a new building started just a few months ago, with a frame going up by February. Six weeks later, fencing still surrounds the property at St. Georges and West Lincoln avenues but it looks like the roof, along with a steeple, has been completed and most windows installed.

Mark I believe its called a cupola on the top. It looks very Westfield so far which is a refreshing good thing!

I wasn't sure which, a cupola or steeple, and went back and forth a few times. I suppose a steeple implies religious architecture but I always think of a cupola as more "dome-like."

From Wikipedia: Cupola or steeple?

Either way, we're in agreement: it's looking good.

...in other Rahway development news, there is a sign in one of the Main Street storefronts announcing a Chai cafe coming soon. I am a big fan of Chai so I am looking forward to this opening. They had a website but the address escapes me right now. It will be opening next door to Victorian style decor place, Niece's Pieces.

Also, the Route 9 entrance off of Lawrence is now OPEN!

Cool, nice to see progress on at least one of the redevelopment projects.

I don't think this one is necessarily "fast", just that the others are mind-numbingly slow.

I like the steeple, cupola, or whatchamacallit there.

a thingamajig is like a whatchmacallit. a big hunk of lumber on the roof works to. :)
